Vipina is a housing project in Bangalore’s emerging locality of vidyanagar located in north Bangalore. The dwelling requirement has been split into two blocks trying to retain the existing trees, the blocks have been kept apart to create a central axis connecting the front and rear parts of the site and that also helps in bringing ample amount of daylight and ventilation to the individual units. The central area that takes shape as an elevated courtyard is treated as a welcoming entry to the apartment blocks. One apartment has been dwarfed to carve out additional recreational spaces at higher levels in the form of sky theatre , sky lounge and terrace garden. The design intent is to bring nature closer to all individual units, trying to achieve linear living dining spaces that extend into the tree decks, these decks have further been staggered to create double height balconies.
